Carlos Santiago is a natural teacher. In fact, as the Vice President of Para-Plus Translations, Carolos sees his role – and that of the company’s – to “educate clients so they have peace of mind that the product that they are receiving will fit their needs.”

“I believe one of the most frustrating things for people who need translation or interpretation services is that they don’t speak or read the language that they are asking about. As a result, they have no way of knowing the most effective way to convey the written or verbal messages, what the end deliverables should be, the cultural and linguistic idiosyncrasies, and finally, whether or not they are getting quality and accurate product.” As a result, Carlos makes it his mission and that of the company staff to educate every client regarding the various nuances of interpretation and translation services. He increased his company’s ability to address those needs when he developed new infrastructure and technological capabilities for the translation department – helping Para-Plus Translations serve more clients efficiently and effectively. As a result, the company was recently was named NJ Small Business Development Center Success Story.

While keeping quality product and services and corporate growth in mind, Carlos never forgets where he came from or how the company started. He often recalls that it was his mother who started Para-Plus Translations after moving to the United States from Puerto Rico and that he never wants the company to lose sight of their family-oriented business values.

Carlos earned a Master’s degree in Education after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Occupational and Radiological Health Services, both from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

An avid outdoorsman, Carlos enjoys camping, rock climbing, hiking, and snowboarding, as well as reading and collecting comic books. However, the father of two, Carlos most enjoys spending time with his family – both at home and in the family business.
