Making the list this year was particularly notable given the economic climate, according to Inc. editor-in-chief Eric Schurenberg. “To rank among the 2012 Inc. 5000, your company had to thrive through three of the toughest years this economy has seen in living memory,” he said.
Now in its 30th year, Inc. 5000 celebrates some of the most dynamic companies operating today. Participants are judged based on percent increase of revenue over a four-year period. To qualify, revenue in the initial year must be at least $200,000, and revenue in the most recent year must be at least $2 million. Companies named to the Inc. 5000 in past years include Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, Jamba Juice, Timberland, Clif Bar, Pandora, Patagonia and Oracle.
In addition to the Inc. 5000, Para-Plus Translations was named a SmartCEO100 Best-Run Company. This award, hosted by SmartCEO magazine, honors an exclusive list of companies that are considered leaders within their industries and have experienced consistent revenue growth.
Para-Plus Translations was honored at a black-tie event hosted by SmartCEO at the College of Physicians in Philadelphia on June 7. The company’s ranking will also appear in the SmartCEO mid-Atlantic Best Run Company book, which is set for release on October 10, and will be distributed to 135,000 CEOs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
“Being recognized by both Inc. and SmartCEO is a testament to the hard work and investment that we have made in Para-Plus Translations,” said Robert Santiago, Chief Operating Officer. “Our growth underscores the fundamental need for quality translation and interpretation services for businesses to succeed in today’s multi-lingual and multi-cultural environment.”
Para-Plus Translations was founded in 1980 when Sonia Santiago, a Puerto Rican transplant, recognized the need for quality interpretation and translation services in the legal community. More than 30 years later, Para-Plus Translations has grown and expanded to language services in over 100 languages. Para-Plus Translations is now managed and operated by Santiago’s two sons, Robert Santiago, Chief Operations Officer and Carlos Santiago, Vice President.
